The National Heath Mission recognises the number of institutional deliveries as a key indicative parameter for performance of the Primary Health Centre. In the hilly and remote region of Arunachal Pradesh and other North Eastern states tribal prefer to opt for home delivery, even though it may lead to health hazards for the mother and the new born. The PHC managed by Karuna Trust under the PPP initiative at Khimiyong, district Changlang achieved 18 deliveries at their sub-centre at Jonji Havi, practically no home deliveries.
