Bachpan Banao (http://bachpanbanao. wordpress.com/)
is an educational fellowship program being implemented at government
schools of Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. As a part of this program a science camp is being organized by IISER Pune and Jnana Prabodhini, Pune. Disha is managing the logistics of the camp.
The schedule of the camp is attached. The basic details are as follows.
Duration: 18th Dec - 22nd Dec 2012
Place: IISER, Jnana Prabodhini
Participating students: ~50 students of 9th standard
The objective of this camp is to provide exposure to
the school students of Dantewada, which is one of the most
underdeveloped and tribal regions of India, to encourage them towards
science and education as a whole. Hence the focus of the camp is on
hands-on activities and visits rather than talks and classroom sessions.
We would like to invite all those who would like
to volunteer for the camp, in part or full time. Volunteers can
contribute both in managing logistics as well as helping the students
during various activities. Volunteers are expected to be a part of the
camp for minimum one full day.
On two days of the camp, 19th Dec and 21st Dec, most of the time will be spent outside Pune. On 19th, a biodiversity tour is arranged in the Sinhgad valley, followed by a specimen observation session at the biology lab at IISER. There will be educational tour on 21st Dec to Vigyan Ashram in Pabal, around 70 km from Pune.
Those of you who are interested can fill out and submit the following form.
You can also forward this mail to anyone who you think will be interested.
We will contact the selected volunteers with further details.
Regards,
Disha
