RIWATCH : Research Institute of World’s Ancient Traditions Cultures & Heritage

नमस्कार,

 २१ ते २३ मे २०१२ रोइंगला धावती भेट दिली  .  ज्ञान प्रबोधिनीतील युवक , युवतीच्या  आसाम - अरुणाचल दौऱ्याच्या दरम्यान ३ दिवस  मोकळे होते . 

गेली २-३ वर्ष RIWACH च्या संकल्पाने बद्दल , संशोधन संस्थेच्या इमारतीच्या उभारणीबद्दल ऐकात होतो. रोइंगजवळ इदुली खेड्यात संशोधन संस्थेची व्यवस्थापन इमारत, निवास इमारत, ग्रंथालय उभे राहिले आहे. औषधी वनस्पतीचे उद्यान विकसित झाले आहे. सध्या अरुणाचल मधील लोकजीवनाचा परीचय व अभ्यास व्हावा यासाठी ऐक संग्रहालय उभारण्याच्या योजनेचे तपशील विजयजींकडून माहित करून घेत होतो. विजय स्वामी सुमारे २५ वर्षे अरुणाचल प्रदेशात सेवाकार्य करत आहेत.सध्या RIWACH चे सेक्रेटरी आहेत. 

अरुणाचल प्रदेशातील लोकजीवन , नृत्य , कला, संगीत , जैव विविधता अशा विषयांचा ज्यांना अभ्यास करायचा आहे त्यांचासाठी स्थानिक तज्ञ मार्गदर्शक , ग्रंथालय व निवास व्यवस्था RIWACH मध्ये उपलब्ध आहे. काही विषयांसाठी शिष्यवृत्ती उपलब्ध होऊ शकते. अधिक तपशिलासाठी RIWACH ची माहिती वाचा व विजय स्वामींशी संपर्क करा.

 दर आठवड्याला पूर्वांचलातील एका संस्थेच्या वा संघटनेच्या कामाची माहिती लिहिण्याचा विचार आहे.

Various ethnic communities of North east India, residing amidst the enchanting
Himalaya, with rich age old traditions and values have been always an inspiring
source for their cultural tapestry and wisdom to other communities of rest part of the
world. The present world is looking back to this wisdom incorporated in the value
system that binds the societies together. Even in the western countries, numerous
Natives, while coping up with changing scenario everywhere, still hold on to their
traditional value system passed on to them by generation together. Many universities
at national and international level are now offering various degrees of Doctoral and
Post Doctoral Research in studying different aspects of such traditions and further
promote, preserve and nurture those to develop better understanding of each other’s
rich cultural values and thus promote universal brotherhood.

  
With these noble objectives, the Research Institute of World’s Ancient Traditions,
Cultures & Heritage (RIWATCH), has been established at Iduli Village on the outskirts of Roing, Lower Dibang Valley. It is an Affiliate unit of International Centre for Cultural Studies (ICCS), Pennsylvania, USA. The foundation was laid by His Excellency the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Gen. J. J. Singh, AVSM, PVSM (Retd).

The basic objective of RIWATCH is to cater to the needs of research
scholars in studying different ethnic groups of North east India and initiate
comparative and cross cultural studies of various ethnic groups of different countries
with that of India in general and north east India in particular. It will also facilitate
young scholars from North east India to have opportunities of cross cultural studies
in foreign countries and vice versa. This will ultimately result in Scholar Exchange
Programmes with different higher educational institutions of the world.

The RIWATCH is a registered Society under Societies Registration Act in
Arunachal Pradesh. The RIWATCH has already started hosting scholars from
different countries for ethnic studies. Miss Maria Priscilla Alvarado Gomez was the first
scholar from Costa Rica attached to RIWATCH to study the traditions of Idu-Mishmis for a period of 3 months in 2008- 2009. She found lots of common cultural threads with Natives of Costa Rica and Native Americans of USA. Ms Likamoni Mein, the first Bhartanatyam Artist from Arunachal, who did extensive study on Ancient Indian Dance Forms under the support of RIWATCH is now proposed to go to Hungary to undertake a comparative study on “Mudras in classical dances of India with eastern Europian dance forms”

The RIWATCH’s two departments Himalayan Herbs ans Ethnic Medicine (HHEM) and Department of Language Development has been already started. The
Department of Sociology, anthropology, archaeology, museaology etc shall be
started from winter 2010. The strength of the institute will be a museum displaying
cultural artefacts of various ethnic groups of the region and a library having a good
collection of books on north east India and world ethnic groups, including a digital
library and documentation centre. It is planned that the RIWATCH will start as a
Research Institute initially and will endeavour to become university in itself in the
long run.
     

 Till today RIWATCH was proud to host 12 international scholars. To site the
recent one example “Accomplishment of first phase research study of Dr.
Bikul Das, Research Scientist from Stanford University, California in
collaboration with RIWATCH and Guwahati Medical Collage.” The study was
done from August 16 to 26, 2010.

The unique features of RIWATCH will be Study Abroad and Student Exchange
Programme with different countries. The RIWATCH will have an Advisory and Governing Council consisting of the experts drawn from various fields, local
community elders and Government Officials as Honorary members.
